What are policy checks?

Policy checks are our way of making sure that:

  • We've got the correct information about you, your vehicle and any additional drivers on your policy.
  • Your policy suits your needs.
  • You’re getting the right price.
  • You're covered in case you have to make a claim.

Why is Hastings Direct making these checks now?
We may need to carry out policy checks at any point during your policy term. This might happen for various reasons. For instance:

  • If we’ve spotted something we want to investigate.
  • If we need to make sure someone else isn’t using your details.

What do I need to do?
We'll ask you to send us certain documents, information or photos. To find out exactly what you need to send us, please see our latest email or letter about policy checks. You can find all the letters and documents we've sent you in the documents section of our app or MyAccount.

What can happen?
After you’ve sent everything we've asked for, we’ll review it . We’ll then contact you by email or letter within five working days.
Once we finish our checks:

  • If we confirm we already had the correct information, then nothing will change and you won't have to do anything else.
  • If we receive new information, we may have to make changes or cancel your policy.
