Am I insured to drive another car?

The quickest way to see if you're insured to drive other cars is to check the app or MyAccount dashboard.

You can also find it in your motor insurance certificate

Your certificate is saved in MyAccount and the app, or in any paper documents we've sent you. To download it, log in go to the Documents section.

Your current certificate will be in your most recent set of documents, called either:

  • Your welcome pack
(if you've recently updated your details)
  • Thanks for renewing your policy
  • We've made the changes to your policy

Remember that if your certificate says you're insured to drive other cars, you'll only be covered for third-party claims. This means you won't be insured for any damage to the car you're driving.

Not covered? Add a temporary vehicle to your policy instead

The ability to drive other cars can't be added to a policy if it's not already included, but you may be able to add a temporary vehicle to your insurance. If you'd like to do this, call us on 0333 321 9801.

What if someone else wants to drive your car?

If they have their own 'driving other cars' benefit and they want to drive your car, that's fine, as long as they aren't your spouse or someone who drives your car regularly. If they are, you should consider adding them as a temporary or permanent driver to your policy.
