How do I confirm non-driving convictions for the policy checks?

Non-driving convictions
Please tell us if you have any non-driving convictions that are unspent (still active).

What is a non-driving conviction?
A non-driving or non-motoring conviction refers to a criminal conviction for an offence that is not related to driving or operating a motor vehicle (such as theft, assault, or fraud) and will still show up on a basic criminal record check.

What does 'unspent' mean?
A conviction is ‘unspent’ or active when it is still within the disclosure period and must be shared with your insurer.

After a specific amount of time, some convictions can become ‘spent’ and don’t have to be disclosed anymore (under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974).

If you are not sure whether or not you need to disclose your conviction, you can use Unlock’s disclosure calculator. Please note that this calculator only applies to legislation in England and Wales.
